NUI CERTIFICATE IN YOUTH ARTS

Delivered by the National Youth Arts Programme at the National Youth Council of Ireland
Accredited by the National University of Ireland, Maynooth

WHAT IS THE NUI CERTIFICATE IN YOUTH ARTS?
The NUI Certificate in Youth Arts is the only one of its kind in Ireland. It provides participants with an understanding of arts practice in a youth work context, as well as offering a contextual and practice-based approach to using the arts with young people. It provides the opportunity to experience various art forms used in working with young people and to consider policy and strategic frameworks within which youth arts practice and development can best flourish. It is the first opportunity many participants already working in the field of youth arts will have to certify their own experiential learning.

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?
The NUI Certificate in Youth Arts is aimed at those working directly with young people in non-formal educational settings, or those planning programmes for young people:

  • Youth Workers
  • Volunteer Youth Leaders
  • Youth Work Development Officers
  • Youth Arts Officers
  • Artists
  • Local Authority Arts Officers
  • Art Teachers
  • Arts Administrators

WHAT CAN PARTICIPANTS EXPECT TO LEARN?

  • Develop knowledge of the context and background to youth arts
  • Improve understanding of the ideas and principles underpinning youth arts practice

  • Recognise models of good practice in youth arts
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to plan, implement and evaluate a youth arts project within their own work setting
