"Establishing a Modern Statutory Framework for Charities" the Consultation Paper published by The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs

There will be a consultation period during which all affected parties are encouraged to make submissions. The Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs is co-funding a series of nationwide information workshops which have been proposed and supported by the community and voluntary sector members of the Implementation and Advisory Group of the White Paper, Supporting Voluntary Activity.

Each information workshop is designed to:

  • Explain the detail of what is proposed in the Consultation Paper.
  • Clarify the implications of the proposed changes for how charities operate in Ireland.
  • Stimulate debate on the proposals.
  • Provide all participants with enough information so that they and their organisations can make informed submissions to the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs within the advertised time limit.


Timing, Dates & Venues of Seminars

Each seminar will begin at 10.30am, finish at 2.30pm
(registration will take place from 10.00am – 10.30am)


The agenda includes an information session, a substantial discussion session and a Q&A session.
A light lunch is also included for all participants.

  • 17 Feb 04 - Kilkenny - Hotel Kilkenny
  • 18 Feb 04 - Cork - Jurys Hotel
  • 24 Feb 04 - Galway - Harbour Hotel
  • 25 Feb 04 - Sligo - Tower Hotel
  • 26 Feb 04 - Dundalk - Fairways Hotel
  • 02 Mar 04 - Dublin - Chief O'Neills Hotel, Smithfield.

Fees

Participants from the community and voluntary sector: €10 (or €18 for two from same organisation)
Participants from all other sectors: €20 (or €25 for two from same organisation)
Bursaries for those from un-staffed groups are available.

Places are limited in each location and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis on receipt of payment.


This nation-wide ‘roadshow’ is being co-ordinated by both The Wheel and Irish Charities Tax Research Ltd (ICTRL) which are both also part-funding the series of workshops.
