National Youth Arts Programme

YOUTH ARTS SPECIALIST

The National Youth Arts Programme is seeking to engage a Youth Arts Specialist to develop and deliver a number of projects on behalf of the programme during 2007.

Background

The National Youth Arts Programme is an initiative of the National Youth Council of Ireland, supported by the Arts Council and the Department of Education and Science, Youth Affairs Section. The programme is dedicated to the development and advancement of arts practice by, for and with young people in Ireland. It aims specifically to realise the potential of young people through good quality arts practice within youth organisations and to develop appropriate policies and activities at local, regional and national level.

Work Programme Details

The Youth Arts Specialist will be expected to

  • Design an outreach training programme on behalf of the NYAP, in consultation with the Programme Co-ordinator.
  • Coordinate delivery of outreach training to youth organisations. This will include training in arts policy development, project planning, fundraising, as well as art form specific training tailored to organisations’ needs.
  • Deliver some of the above training, where appropriate.
  • Develop and co-ordinate delivery of Inquiring Minds, an initiative for young people aimed at developing critical engagement with the arts.
  • Co-ordinate delivery of In2, an annual youth arts publication.

The Youth Arts Specialist should:

  • Hold a relevant third level qualification, e.g. Fine Art, Arts Administration, Youth Arts.
  • Have at least 3 years relevant experience in the field of arts practice by, for or with young people.
  • Have some knowledge of the youth work sector.
  • Hold a full driving license and be available to travel in the course of delivering this contract.
  • Have a flexible approach to working which will be primarily home based, but will include office working as and when required.

Tender Criteria

The NYAP invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to tender for the above contract, outlining how the work plan will be approached, to include number of days, fees and expenses.

The contract is for one year, from January 2007 to December 2007.

Tenders will be accepted based on demonstration of relevant expertise and value for money.

The closing date for receipt of tenders is Tuesday January 9th 2007.
