GRADUATE DIPLOMA / M.ED IN ADULT EDUCATION
Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick

Mary Immaculate College, in association with the University of Limerick, proposes to offer the Graduate Diploma in Adult Education in Waterford
in 2003-04.

The course is a part-time programme for graduates who wish to work in the adult and community education sectors and for educational/training personnel currently working in this field. The course will be delivered on a week-end and block release basis. Teaching and learning methods include lectures, tutorials, studio-based teaching, visiting speakers, workshops, study visits, teaching practicum and directed study.

Schedule:
Modules will be taught in Waterford Teachers Centre on Friday nights and Saturday mornings during the Academic Year, September 2003 to May 2004.
There will be 8 lecture/tutorial week-ends in each semester.
Semester 1 : September 2003 - January 2004
Semester 2 : February 2004 - May 2004

Campus weeks (block release weeks) are scheduled in the first semester:
15th - 19th September; 12th - 16th January. A campus weekend will be held during the second semester. The Teaching Practicum is conducted in a centre of the student's choice in the second semester.

Students may proceed to the Masters programme having achieved an honours award (minimum 2.1) in the Graduate Diploma and grade B1 (at minimum) in the research project. The Masters programme comprises a research methods module (delivered on campus) and the completion of a dissertation.
