Communicating Using Information Technology
Online 'egroups' or discussion boards can offer an alternative to meetings
and bring you together with people and organisations similar to yourself. Here is one example of such an initiative that may be of interest to you or you may try and replicate for your area of interest.
"Would you like to be able to keep in touch with other organisations operating similar helpline services to yourself? Why Does No-one Love NAPS?
Imagine if there was a plan to end poverty in Ireland, to tackle educational disadvantage and to challenge health and equalities once and for all. Imagine if our Government had signed up, and committed themselves to delivering on that plan. Imagine what our schools might look like if we were embarked on such a great national crusade. Oddly enough such a plan does exist, it is called The National Anti-Poverty Strategy (NAPS), although it's fair to say that it's not widely known within the educational community. Towards A Process Of Educational Upskilling Of Young Adults In Work
This pilot initiative which targets young adults (17+) who left school before completion and are now in employment aims to upgrade skills, enhance career prospects and promote educational progression of the target group. The model being used is very much a partnership one with employers, local partnership companies, education providers and the key funding agencies working together in an integrated fashion under the auspices of the Dublin Employment Pact (DEP). Do You Attend Meetings? Have We Got A Survey For You...!
Team Training Ireland are conducting a study on the frequency and effectiveness of meetings in the private, community & voluntary, public and media sectors in Ireland.
Their aim is to obtain tangible evidence about current meeting practices in relation to the: - time spent in meetings and it's value;
- the key issues in relation to effective meeting practice, and;
- the identification of Best Practice to determine what is and is not effective.
The survey is brief - 2 pages - and refers to your meeting experience over the last 4 weeks. The results of this study will assist with identifying good practice and areas that could enable more effective meeting practices across all sectors.
If you or anyone you know would like to complete this, please ring Nora Stewart on 01 283 9761 or send an email to nora@teamtrainingireland.com and we can either email or post it out to you.
