Courses The overall programme of instruction is the Basic Skills Foundation Course, and consists of instruction in catering, woodwork, metalwork, crafts, art, hair-dressing, literacy/numeracy and social skills. These are supplemented by instruction in a variety of areas such as personal development, pre- and post-natal care, drug awareness, relationships, first aid, personal health and hygiene These are delivered by guest instructors. Certification is offered by means of the FAS integrated Assessment (lAS). Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) Foundation level and City & Guilds. We participate in the VEC applications-oriented mathematics course. The Centre networks with a number of statutory and voluntary agencies, notably the Mid-Western Health Board, Social workers, Garda Liaison Officers, FAS and the VEC. We also maintain a close working relationship with Young Nenagh Project, Youthreach Roscrea, and Ceim Eile Roscrea, all of whom are concerned with the same area of training/education as we are. The Board of Management, which operates on a voluntary basis, has representatives from the VEC, FAS, Garda Siochana, Lions Club, Leo Club, Social Workers, as well as local businesses. |
