Policy Statement

St. Basil's Training Centre has been in existence since 1981. It is a thirty-place centre catering for Travellers mainly from the Tallaght area. It is funded by the VEC and the European Social Fund, in premises provided by the local Parish. We provide essential training and education.

Our Mission Statement is RESPECT, which stands for Relationships, Education, Support, Pride, Equality, Confidentiality, Trust.

We offer a wide range of programmes, including:
Traveller Culture, Literacy (NCVA), Numeracy (NCVA), Personal Development (NCVA), Health & Exercise (NCVA), Childcare (NCVA), Home Economics (NCVA), Drama (NCVA), Video Expression (NCVA), Health Education, Arts & Crafts, Pre-Marriage, Hairdressing, Creative Writing, Meditation & Dance, Religion, Voter Education, Swimming and First Aid.

We also have various outings and speakers in to talk on a range of topics.

As well as training, the trainees at St. Basil's can access information regarding accommodation, health services, social welfare benefits, legal rights, various counselling services, further education and employment routes: clinics are held regularly in the centre. Our aim is to enable trainees to make informed decisions about their lives.
